Where do you keep your pram/pushchair

I have a large silver cross travel system which is in the front hall, rendering the front door useless (we can squeeze past) I have just bought an umbrella fold stroller which i plan to leave in the car boot.

DH doesn't like the idea. Nor does mother (she thinks it will go mouldy in the winter)

I do have concerns over mould and when its rained but can do without yet another item of clutter.

Does anyone else keep theirs in the car and does it go mouldy?

Ours lived in the car for four years and was fine. If it seems to be getting condensation on it then you could rethink?

Etak15 · 16/10/2015 10:32

I've always kept the buggy in the car (otherwise I would forget to take it with me when I go out!)as long as your using it regularly it's fine, only once mine went a bit mouldy when it got soaking wet with rain and chucked it back in the boot and then didn't use if for a few days, but it cleaned up ok! Now I remember if it does get really wet I bring it in and leave it up overnight to dry.

Ours is in the car too, I just bring it in if it's gotten rained on, then pop it back when it's all dry!! No mould issues!

Ours went in the car once dd was walking most of the time so it wasn't necessary on a daily basis.

We also had it as a piece of furniture in the hall for a long time. Used to drive me potty

eurochick · 16/10/2015 10:36

We left ours in the car in the old house as there wasn't really anywhere indoors for it.

BeautifulLiar · 16/10/2015 10:36

Mine also lives in the car. it's fine, but...

I went out one day on a gorgeous sunny day, with no rain cover. Out of nowhere there was a huge downpour and we all got soaked. I put the pram in the boot and the car stunk of damp for months and months!! Probably my fault though.

MrsNuckyT · 16/10/2015 10:37

When DS was very small and was in and out of the pram / pushchair all day every day, it lived in a corner of the living room (in fact when he was tiny we didn't have a moses basket, he used to nap in his carry cot in the living room, or I'd push him into whichever room I was in).

Now that the buggy is not used all the time, we have one in each car. They are not moldy or anything!! I guess it depends how often you use your car. If it is getting a run around most days, it won't get damp, especially not if your car is relatively new.

Daffydil · 16/10/2015 10:39

Ours lived in the boot of the car without a problem.

No room in the house for it, and we live really rurally, so rarely used it without driving somewhere first anyway.

NoPowerInTheVerseCanStopMe · 16/10/2015 10:46

Ours lives in the garage. It would just about fit in the porch but getting it in the porch is another thing due to steps up to the door and a very awkward corner right by the front door!

Sparrowlegs248 · 16/10/2015 11:53

Thanks all. Car is not new but is used at least once a day every day as we also live really. I will bring iy in if it gets too wet and hope for through best!

We possibly have the same travel system OP and it lives in the car boot. No issues whatsoever and that's been a year now. We keep the rain cover in the basket so would never be caught without it.

knittingbee · 21/10/2015 20:04

I use a sling nowadays because I'm sick of the bloody buggy taking up so much space by the door!

trilbydoll · 21/10/2015 20:10

I used to pull the travel system apart and have the chassis by the front door and the pushchair seat on the back of the settee. 2.5 years on I'm less precious about it so it's either in the boot of the car or the garage. The car seat perches on the back of an armchair though!

Eminybob · 21/10/2015 20:17

The travel system lived either in the house or the car depending on whether I walked or drove when I last went out. Then when I got an umbrella fold that lived in the car for when we drove, and the travel system in the house for when we walked.
Now the travel system is at dmil's for when she has him and I just use the umbrella fold. It lives in the car and it has never gotten mouldy.
