dc exposed to shingles how long before chicken pox would come out?

My dcs 5 and 7m were at my mums house over the weekend she complained of a sore back by mon she had spots/ blisters on her back on Tues visited GP who said it was shingles. If my children have been in contact with her how long before they're likely to come out in chicken pox if they've caught it from get?

If the shingles appeared on her back they are very unlikely to have caught it from her. CPox from shingles requires direct contact with the fluid from a shingles blister.

As far as I know from DD having shingle last week is that she could't pass it on as chicken pox unless someone had direct contact with the liquid from the blisters either on the body or on a towel/sheet etc. So if your mum didn't have any blisters it is unlikely your Dc will catch chicken pox.

If the blisters were covered then it's unlikely chicken pox will be transmitted as you need direct contact with fluid from the blisters

The CDC here in the US says the incubation period for chicken pox ranges from 10 to 21 days. NHS says 7 to 21 days. The average is 14-16 days. I went through this when my 2 month old DD was exposed to someone with shingles. I breathed a big sigh of relief when that 21 days was over. Hope they don't get it.

As others have said, it's pretty unusual to catch CP from someone with shingles - it's not nearly as contagious as CP itself. I wouldn't worry.
