Left / Right handed

Hi. DS is 10mo. My friend already knows her 10mo baby is right handed. I can't tell mine seems to switch between!
When did you first know whether your child was left or right handed? Just curiosity, not because it's hugely significant. Thanks!

My eldest showed a strong right preference from a young age. Way before school I was sure.
My youngest used to change. He's left handed now, and I think he used to fight it. He finally decided he was a leftie in reception. So, you have a little while!

I'm thinking 9month DD will be a leftie. She's pretty much done everything left handed from very early on

I really didn't think a preference would show so early

I knew with dd1 by about 10 months. I thought she might switch but she's still a leftie. Think dd2 will be too.

Can't say I took any notice until DS was 2 when I caught him with pen in his right hand creating art on the walls!

my ds is 22 we didn't really notice and he just adapted hth

DS1 always used R hand.DS2 used both equally until starting reception now writes with R hand.DS3 is 2 and appears to be L handed.

I thought DD2 was left handed. She sucked her left thumb, seemed to use her left hand more when picking things up playing etc as a baby / toddler, scribbled with crayons in either hand, but she turned out to be right-handed so you never can tell!

I was fairly sure with all of mine by about 18 months. 2 are R handed and the one who is L handed is more ambidextrous than the others - he does a lot of things R handed e.g. using scissors, but writes with his left.
