bullyproof my child

Has anyone got any tips or ideas to make my child "bully proof." She's very sensitive and although only 6 I worry that she could become a target for bullies as she goes through school. Maybe there are some activities I could do with her at home but I don't know where to start??
Any help is appreciated...

My daughter was a bit like that-now at 13 1/2 she's a bit scary Grin

I think all you can do is keep trying to build self-esteem. It can be heartbreaking though.

Start her in a kids martial arts class. Taking DS1 (now 9, then a very sweet and sensitive 5) to karate was one of the best things I ever did.

Should add, he's still sweet and sensitive! Just doesn't get bullied now and has far more confidence in himself.

Don't try and change her or let her know you are concerned.

You need to do the opposite. Build her self esteem for who she is now. Self confidence is the biggest anti bullying thing a child can have.

Plus a willingness to grass immediately if anyone tries anything Smile

There is a free guide available here... www.jackcherry.info/ It sounds exactly what your looking for. Lots of advice for parents and activities for you to do. Also practical info on what to do if your child is bullied.
I have just downloaded it to use with my kids and really pleased with it.
Basically sums up what other people have said, the best thing you can do is help your child to build their confidence and self esteem. Don't try to change your child just give her the tools she needs to be proud of herself. Agree with Anastasie - being a grass also helps lol

Thanks for that lisa. Just been to the link and downloaded the pack. It looks great and was just what I was looking for. I will also talked to her about joining karate, she seems nervous so I said wel go down and have a look together and I wouldn't put pressure on her to join, I just said I thought it would be fun. She's worried it will be all boys but hopefully it will be quite mixed. Fingers crossed!!!
