Why does he need to nap in a travel cot? Why not his cot cot?

ffffffedup · 28/09/2015 22:36

Can he not sleep in his normal cot or in his pram?

Katieemilyxo · 28/09/2015 22:37

He has his main cot upstairs but I spend most of my time during the day downstairs and usually for his daytime naps he goes on his moses basket but it's far to small for my 8 week old now x

So put him in his cot upstairs for daytime naps and use the baby moniter to hear when he wakes up. He doesn't need to be downstairs with you.

ffffffedup · 28/09/2015 22:41

His pram should be fine during the day

Why would you need a travel cot up to 5 years? The kid would be far too big by then and most likely able to climb out by 2!

Katieemilyxo · 28/09/2015 22:44

Haven't invested in a baby monitor yet as I try to be with him as much as possible but I shall now thank you x

If u want a travel cot get a travel cot! It might be useful as a play pen down the line any way. Don't know either of the brands u mentioned though sorry. We had basic asda one it was fine though I would have bought a better mattress for it were I using it everyday

Katieemilyxo · 28/09/2015 22:50

I'm not sure which one to buy there's so many just want one that's pretty long as he's a long heavy baby he's already coming up 16 pound and is 62cm long xx

Most travelcots are roughly the same size. Our asda one was fine but like cup said, if using it daily for naps just buy a travel cot matress to make it more comfortable.

It should be big enough until at least 18 months

Katieemilyxo · 28/09/2015 23:12

Okay thank u very much xox

We used a travel cot for downstairs naps for our twins till about 9 months (the advice is not to put babies in a seperate room for naps until 6 months old). We had one from mothercare that had two levels and change mat on top - was very useful! Bought a good quality mattress for it though. And then we used it as a usual travel cot till around 2

Katieemilyxo · 28/09/2015 23:18

Do you know which one that was? Sounds ideal for me x

Doesn't look like they sell it anymore! But it is similar to this one

If you are getting one for just using downstairs for the next few mouths get one with a higher basenett level and change table. You can then use it in the future for a second child. The only problem is they tend to be heavy and have a big pack size so taking it places can be a pain. I had a little life one that packed down small so I used to take it with me when I had number 2 when I went round to friends houses to fro number 1 to play. (i had a big age gap)

If I was buying now I would get a baby bjorn one as they look easy to put up and are light and small pack size. Although our little life one is still going as I am a childminder. Its 9 years old now and been used camping, at the beach, in the garden

Born ones are so expensive tho x I don't have that amount I'd money to spend xo

Most of them are too short and wide imo. Don't know where you get them but they do some which are more like a bed shape - when DC gets older and uses a pillow if you want to use it for travelling the longer the cot the better...
