Does anyone have any ideas for getting my 15month old sick daughter to eat?? She has had croup and now a bad cold and is even off milk!! She was skinny to start with and I'm worried she'll waste away!! I can just about force down tiny squares of malt loaf and the occasional Quaver!!

At this age as long as she will take liquids (and plenty of them), I wouldn't worry about what solids she is eating, keep offering small amounts of different things, but keeping her liquid intake up is most important.

We were always advised to give pure fruit juice half and half with water with a spoon full of sugar in it, sounds yuk but the kids seem to like it, and it gives enough goodness/energy to help get them back on their feet.

I hope she starts feeling better soon, it is horrible when they are poorly.

Agree, liquids are more important than solids. You could try ice lollies made from Smoothies (if you stick an Innocent Smoothie in the freezer you can just cut the top of the packet off and you've got a lolly holder).

Agree, fluids are the most important thing. When my dd had croup the doctor recommended ice lollies or icecream becasue the cold soothed their throats and helped reduce the swelling in the broncio -sorry, can't spell them but you know, all their little tubes. I made some fruit ice cream with bananas and honey that she liked and made me feel better because it felt as if it was nutritious. I'll see if I can find the recipe. But don't worry, she'll start eating again when her body tells her she should. Just keep up the fluids

THanks everyone. She seems to be on the mend today. Found an orange drink she seems to love and for some strange reason she wolfed down loads of cheese and onion quiche too!! There is no accounting for children!
