Hi am new here (first post!)could do with some help...

My DS has had a nasty cold for the last couple of days lots of snot, sneezing and coughing and most recently (10 mins ago) the biggest puking incident I've seen since he's been born!! Is there anything anyone can recommend that I can do for him/give him?? Hate seeing him so helpless DP's fault for giving it to him

Any help greatly appreciated..

Calpol, it worked well with my 2 yr old. Hope he is better soon.

Thanks have some Nurofen for babies is that the same sort of thing? It's probably bothering me more than him seeing as he gave me the cheekiest smile while I was changing the puke stained clothes his and mine!

Hee hee, yeah I know what you mean . I think Nurofen is stronger than Calpol so should work well. I also gave mine Calprofen but your little one is too young for that (6 months+), it should bring down the temperature. Mine was sick too, I think it was because of all the phlegm(?) stuck in his throat...

Try Karvol capsule, few drops of stinky oil stuff on a muslin where he sleeps. Also try taking him into the bathroom with you while you have a hot shower, as steam sometimes clears the snot a little. And you have my sympathies, my 4 month old had his first cold a few weeks ago, bleugh.

Also, don't know if you're a July mum, but there's a postnatal thread if you want to join us. I'm sure there's an August one too Welcome to Mumsnet

Do they sell Baby Vapor Rub in the UK? It always helps my ds.

Sister is a HV. (She is lovely though). She recommended saline drops for blocked nose.
