Help weaning advice?!

Hi,

My son is 6 months old and on 3 meals a day we kind of have a routine but curious as to weather I'm doing it right below is what happens

Between 6-7:30 (doesn't wake same time everyday) bottle of 7oz
9:30 breakfast
12:30 dinner
2:30-3 bottle 7oz
5:30 tea
7:30 bottle 7oz

At meal times he has started to have a few sips of water.

Does this sound okay? Am I doing anything drastically wrong? To long between bottles?

Any help or advice appreciated Smile

Hi DS1 is 13 m now but we had something similar going on at the same age except more bottles (one mid morning and a dream feed)- although I should add that he rarely finished a bottle at that age so he probably consumed a similar amount of milk in a 24 hr period. I gave him breakfast a bit earlier though, 7.30ish, as that fitted better with his naps. If he is draining his bottles and has a healthy appetite you could always add another bottle mid morning?

That sounds exactly like what I am giving my DD and she is nearly seven months. Health visitor did advise I increase the number of bottles as she has slightly dropped a centile in weight but there just aren't enough hours in the day. I honestly don't think there's a right or wrong way with weaning; it's just whatever suits your baby best. Good luck though. I do find it very tiresome and keep having to remind myself that "food is fun"!

Wow babies are so different, my DS is 6 months, having 2 solid food 'meals' a day and still has 6 or 7 bottles a day (7th one is if he wakes in the night, sometimes does and sometimes doesn't) He drinks around 7oz each feed, as well. I suppose as long as your LO isn't draining the bottles then you're probably on the right lines. How much milk did he drink before he started weaning?

My ds is 7 months old only in the past few days have I introduced a 3rd meal. At the moment he has
7am 7oz bottle
9am porridge
11.30 4oz bottle small amount of lunch
2.30 7oz bottle
5pm dinner +a yoghurt
7pm 7oz bottle

My main worry with my ds is that he refuses fluids with food, I've tried different cups even offered it out of a bottle but he won't have any water I've even offered baby juice but he won't take any.

Doesn't seem an awful lot of milk for that age of baby. At 6 months mine had 3 small meals plus 5 bottles (1 in the night). The routine was roughly:
7am -milk
8am - breakfast
11 am - milk
12pm - lunch
2.30pm - milk
5pm- dinner
7pm milk
In the Night until 8 months - milk

Thanks all. He didn't drink a lot before weaning only 5oz bottles. He's stayed on the 9th placentile and remains on this one. He sleeps through the night from 7pm and I've tried to give another bottle between breakfast and dinner but won't drink any of it so I'm guessing he's full. I may try to introduce milk into his breakfast with a weetabix to put more in. Having researched the amount of milk from 6months is typical 16-20z and throughout the day with the 7oz bottles he takes 21oz so I guess that's okay

Does your ds drink anything with his meals?? I can't get my ds to take even sips of water/juice/anything

Tashafaye123 · 24/09/2015 17:49

Yes he has a few sips of water at the moment which is slowly getting more and more
