am trying to make hand and foot prints of my 8 week old DD - got more paint on the carpet than the paper! She had the tightest fists you've ever seen! Any top tips?! Also, was thinking of getting one of those kits for doing casts of hand and feet - any good, or destined for the carpet also?!

  1. Wait until she's asleep and her hands relax
  2. Make it a two-person job -- you hold your sleeping DD, person B paints her hand with a painbrush and presses it onto the paper. Then when you've got the prints OK person B cleans her hands with a baby wipe.

This worked for us, anyway...

I had a cast and it was really easy no mess.
It is kind of like playdough, and I just stood ds on it and my mum pressed his foot in. You can repeat it if you get it wrong.

I didn't try hands, a bit more challenging I think!

I wish I had got the bronze casting done, would make lovely ornament for when I'm old and grey!

Thanks for the advice guys, will give it a go. Now must get the rest of the blue paint off her hands and feet - the Health Visitor will think she has circulation problems!
