Wiping own bum after a poo?

dd just turned 4, tries, bless her, but still can't physically 'reach'.

She came home other day with certificate from nursery, sayign she had wiped ehr own bum, i checked it and they was still a little bit (tmi! sorry). tow days later, the same thing! havent approached nursery as think they will say "but she is 4 now"

but she really just isnt ready yet.

when did your lo wipe bottom properly?

Most kids still need help at 5 IME. Do they use toilet wipes? These shouldn't be flushed but can be useful to help a child do a good job. They haven't really the co-ordination, without adult help, at 4 years old.

Oh if it was me I would say to nursery "could you please still help X to wipe her bottom as she can't quite get it clean by herself and it is getting sore"

I tend to do one wipe at the begining then let my dd have a go then check when she has finished. She uses lots of loo roll, but practice makes perfect.
