Toddler doing fake smile/laugh

Does anyone else's toddler do this? Mine regularly looks at me and does a really fake smile, actually quite a frightening look with eyes all screwed up etc. She does it to our baby too. She does natural smiles all the time when she's happy or laughing but has started doing this fake one whenever she is aware of smiling. If you try to take a picture of her she does this fake smile again. There are now hardly any pictures of her smiling whereas pre-2 there were loads. The same with laughing -- sometimes she will do a weird fake laugh which is actually quite an annoying/bewildering noise.

In general she makes lots of weird noises, like that man from Police Academy!

Anyone else's kid do this?

Is she copying the baby? My two yr old does that a lot and yes it looks pretty weird.

Yes, DS does this every time he wants to redirect attention back to him. Usually accompanied by really weird laugh.

My 3yo always does it for pictures. It's like he is is trying to show you as many of his teeth as possible.
