Does my baby love me?

eenysugarplumfairy · 27/11/2006 19:51

I have a 16 week old darling boy. He does smile at me. Do you think he loves me? Are babies made to love their mothers? Am I the world to him or could he take me or leave me?

Sorry I know none of you can answer this question really but I cant help asking. I want him to love me more than anything.

What makes you think that he couldnt love you?
He is 16 weeks old and you are the centre of his universe,of course he loves you-unconditionally!

I wondered the same thing when my dd was around the same age.
But she's now nearly 14 months old, she follows me everywhere, she reaches for me whenever she's in new situations and always licks my cheek rather than kissing me, which I think is a high compliment!!

Give it a while and he will be showing you how much he loves you

scatterbrain · 27/11/2006 19:57

Of course - babies are all programmed to love their mummies ! Stop worrying and enjoy !

eenysugarplumfairy · 27/11/2006 19:59

funnily he has just started sucking on my cheek and face. its lovely! I hate the idea of being licked by anyone but him!

lulumama · 27/11/2006 20:00

you are the centre of his universe

the source of love, warmth, food, love, cuddles, kisses, hugs and niceness that he cannot name...he is a baby..he just knows that you are there and you love him

do not philosophise about this.

babies love their mummies

end of.

eenysugarplumfairy · 27/11/2006 20:01

aw thanks lulu. I know I SHOULDNT worry about it but I Cant help it! ! I love him so madly I just want to know he feels exhilerated when he looks at me as well. IT must be an ego thing.

when he licks your face..and pulls your hair wiht hot little baby hands.and snuggles his face into your neck when you hold him and waves his legs when you blow raspberries on his tummy..when he flaps his arms when he sees you..when he cries when you leave the room....when he follows you with his eyes...when he snufles in your ear when you hug him

that is baby love.

trust me

eenysugarplumfairy · 27/11/2006 20:04

i felt exactly the same way as you esf. now dd is a bit older, i cannot describe how it feels when dd runs up to me and gives me a bear hug and wheni get in from work the look of joy on her face when she sees me....... pure love (huuuuuge )

Mumpbump · 27/11/2006 21:02

You wait - when he gets separation anxiety, you will have no doubt that you are the centre of his universe, possibly even more than you want to be!! Our ds is very clingy at the moment, but I love all the cuddles because usually he is far too busy off exploring to be cuddly... I don't even mind getting up in the night to give him a quick cuddle for reassurance... It is fab!

nearlythree · 27/11/2006 21:02

Babies are like love sponges. They soak up all the love you give them and then give it all right back to you.

You just wait til he says that he 'wuffs you!'

Trinityrhino · 27/11/2006 21:06

I'm blubbing at reading this thread, lulumama that is such a sweet post

This reminds me of when dd2 was about 4 days old, every evening I would be snuggled on the sofa with her after a feed and she would be fast asleep and I would be sobbing saying to dh "do you think she really knows how much I love her?"
I did it every evening for about 2 weeks.......baby blues, don't you just love it.
I can remeber the feeling liek it was yesterday I just wanted her to know how desperately I loved her.

nearlythree · 27/11/2006 21:09

I used to cry over dd1 for months. In fact I still cry over all my dcs from time to time!

eenysugarplumfairy · 28/11/2006 10:47

I've been reminding myself of Lulu's post all morning!

I think its so wonderful, I believe I see the best of my baby. I get all his best smiles and coos and giggles.

Iklboo · 28/11/2006 10:53

Lulu's post has made me feel all squishy inside cos it's so true.
Ds is 1 now and I love our "cuddle time" when I get home from work. Just sitting together on the couch while he babbles away to me, putting his little head on mine and giving me a big "snog", the little grins he gives me, snuggling in when I'm taking him up to bed.

I LOVE BEING A MUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 28/11/2006 10:56

isn't it weird that when we are at our happiest we cry like we're the saddest we could ever be?
I'm constantly blubbling because i live my ds so much and he makes me so happy (as opposed to those days when i've had it and cry cause i'm at the end of my tether...)
babies are an amazing invention. they are infintely loveable.
i'm gonna go hug mine right now!!!

lulumama · 28/11/2006 11:02

you know, sometimes i get a physical ache in my heart looking at my sleeping baby ..

and with my 7 year old...the feelings don't go away !

motherhood is so precious and amongst all the negative stuff...there is this! the love between you and baby.......there is nothing like it on earth...

even when babylulu pokes my eye really hard and laughs.....

eenysugarplumfairy · 28/11/2006 11:24

aww! I am so glad I started this thread! Lets all go hug our little darlings !

Life is so wonderful and I just love my baby to bits. Now, if only he would wake up and giggle at me!

OP posts:
Rookiemum · 28/11/2006 14:42

nearlythree you made me almost cry, I can't wait until rookiebaby says he Wuffs me.

I must admit to being really happy the other day when picking up 8mth DS from his weekly half day at the childminders, he was snuggling up comfortably with her seemingly not at all bothered wether I had arrived or not, then I left the room to get his jacket and he wailed like a banshee until I came back in. He missed me !

anniebear · 28/11/2006 14:49

Lol, Have to admit, I don't think I ever wanted to wake my twin girls up when they are sleeping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fransmom · 28/11/2006 21:06

they do look like little angels don't they?!
