Meningitis B Vaccine - have you had your toddler vaccinated?

Just doing a quick post to find out how many people had their toddlers vaccinated? I am thinking of getting my 2.5 DS vaccinated, it will have to be done privately because he falls outside of the criteria to get the NHS jab.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Timtammy · 27/08/2015 14:38

Yes. I had meningitis as a child and really strongly believe in the vaccine. There is lots of stuff about it on meningitisnow.org. They will also give you a list of private gps that offer in your area as prices really vary.

Yes, I had mine vaccinated privately as a baby last year. Definitely worth it in my opinion. It is a cost but I would never forgive myself for having thought about it and not gone ahead if the worst happened.

My LO will receive this as part of his vaccinations next week.

I have had both a family member and a friend have meningitis (friend lost legs and fingers) ... if this vaccination wasnt available as part of the programme i would definately be looking to pay privately

Yes. I paid for DD to have it (she's almost 3). I decided she couldn't wait for the government to stop prevaricating.

Yes, we're having ours done next month. We're lucky that our GP issued a private prescription & they will administer it during the baby vaccination clinic at the GP

Had my Dd done at same time as her other vaccines. Paid about £375 for 3 doses. Hoping NHS will pay for her 12mth one in Oct.

LintRoller · 28/08/2015 20:15

No but only because I'd completely forgotten about it Blush Off to find out where I can get it.

Also was discussing it with a group of friends last year (all doctors, of various specialties) - we were all without exception planning to get it done for our DC. Horrific illness.

PotteringAlong · 28/08/2015 20:20

Yes. He had it as part of his pre school vaccines

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 28/08/2015 20:20

Yes- had DD (nearly 3) and DS (10 months) done. Cost a lot! But I'm glad we had it done.
They were both quite ill afterwards- 24 hours of high temps, bit of diarrhoea and not feeling well and I think that is reasonably common with this jab
