Stacking / building toys? 10mo

I haven't really bought any toys so far for ds2, he's dc3 so no need (loft is a mini ELC in the making). But he's at the stage of wanting to do things and absolutely loves the stacking cups that fit in each other, or build a tower the other way.

Any suggestions for similar?

It was at this stage my dd lost all interest in toys and started exploring the house, but you could see if having a couple of tubs or boxes with things in to take out and put back would be of interest. Dd enjoyed putting the shapes in the shape sorter, by the main hole not the shaped holes mind.

Megablocks?

daisydalrymple · 26/08/2015 20:04

Yes, you see I knew it would really involve just getting in the loft! He's getting to the stage where he wants to achieve something (genius obviously Grin) I didn't think of the mega blocks and shape sorters. Knew we'd have what we needed up there.

And this time I'm SAHM, so he won't be going to nursery and betraying me wanting all the plastic stuff, so I will bring down the lovely wooden stuff first! Thanks.

Is he too little for shape sorting toys? DS is nearly two but I vaguely remember the stacking cups and shape sorting ball being his favourites around the same time.

daisydalrymple · 26/08/2015 21:49

Yes I think I'll try him with them. From memory we have a lovely wooden one (obviously Smile) , a bright red bus with different shaking shapes, a round drum shape one (also plays tunes...) and a cube multi activity one. I tell you I could open a nursery. Don't get me started on happy land!

Empty plastic water/coke/fanta bottles (no lids) and an ice cream tub. The sound of "bonk" is almost as good as silence. Grin
She puts them in, takes them out etc for ages!

daisydalrymple · 27/08/2015 15:09

Oh that's so funny squizita, we're on holiday and when we arrived I gave him an empty bottle that I had put a straw in then lid back on and he absolutely loved playing with it! Ds1 being conscientious put it in recycling, but in the meantime he's been playing with the little food containers I brought with us for taking his stuff out and about Smile

Is your lo a similar age? I lurked on November AN thread, but DS came a few weeks early, so have read oct PN from time to time but never joined in as everybody 'knew' each other.

Yep she's 11 months old. I wasn't on the normal AN group, I was on the "pregnant after loss" scary thread (though ended well obviously! Phew!).

daisydalrymple · 27/08/2015 22:36

Ahh right, sorry to hear that. I lurked on AN due to mmc before ds2. (But after healthy pg for ds1 and dd). Didnt feel up to joining in properly myself.

just your user name seemed familiar so I guessed I must have seen you around on similar threads. (Don't mean to sound stalkerish Grin )
