Vests and t shirts

We've (luckily) been handed down all our clothes for our ds (now 1) so we've always just dressed him in those clothes. We always put on a short sleeve vest, then if colder add baby grow when younger, and now a jumper and trousers. There are t shirts in our collection. When would you use t shirts? Over the vest, or instead of? Are there any reasons why a particular method is chosen or just personal preference? I'm probably over thinking this, but I'm bored in the car so thought I'd see what others think. So far we've not used the t shirts. Thanks!

I'd put him in a t-shirt when you wear one! Simple Smile

Seriously you've never put your just turned 1 year old in a tshirt?

So when are vests used? I'm confused!

Nope I've just used short sleeved vests for when I'm in a t shirt!

Just a t shirt or t shirt then jumper if it's cold. If it's really cold then maybe a vest, t shirt and jumper but we would usually just put a coat on.

Vest or t-shirts are an either or for me. Vests better in winter under jumpers and t-shirts the rest of the time. But hey whatever works. Haven't used vests other than for occasional hot summer sleeping since before 12 months.

I don't put mine in a vest until it gets quite cold. She wears tshirts at the minute and cardi over if needed. Then when it's cooler she'll be able to wear her long sleeved tops and dresses. Vests are for when it's proper winter and nightwear depending on temperature

You put them in one more layer than you're wearing yourself, so tonight if mine were still that little and still up it would be 4 layers! Grin

I agree t-shirts and vests are interchangeable. I tend to use beats under things and t-shirts if that's the only layer. If it's hot it seems nice for them to get a bit of a breeze round them in a t-shirt? DD (10 months) usually has a t-shirt with a craft over if cold, we only really use vests for sleeping in the Summer (if we out her in a nappy and a PJ too she's take the nappy off!)

soundsystem · 27/08/2015 19:47

*PJ top, not too

Sgtmajormummy · 27/08/2015 20:11

Mine wear/wore vests or camisoles under everything from October to April, long enough to reach below the waistline. I just can't stand the gap of bare skin between trousers and top and the idea of wind whistling up there!

I don't do the "vest into pants tuck" though! Grin

Prefer a vest over nappy in all cases. then either T-shirt on top of short sleeved or sleeveless vest if warm, or over long sleeved vest or sleepsuit if cooler. Also putting it over sleepsuit makes it look less babyish but avoids needing to bother about socks!
