My dd is having her birthday treat tomorrow some of her friends are coming with us to the pics etc.All the other kids have had parents that have rung to say is all ok etc what time for drop off pick up except one.The message came from the child directly to me friday that she was coming so i had to write a note to mum saying times etc still no call -extremely bad manners!!!
So tomorrow i am sure the child who is 9 will turn up alone but my worry is when we come back what the hell do i do if we call home and no one is in.I cannot keep her my gran is ill and i have promised to visit her as soon as we are back. The mum couldnt give a rats arse and will drop the child at a moments notice and despite what mum says she is left home alone too- but that is a seperate issue being flagged up elsewhere.I am just worried i have no number for mum and can see me being dumped on - this should not be my worry!

Can you ask the child for her telephone number as soon as she arrives and then call her mum straight away to let her know you'll be returning her child at x o'clock? Happy birthday to your DD!

curlew · 26/11/2006 07:46

She will know her own phone number at 9 - but can't you grab her mom or whoever drops her off and explain?

joanna4 · 26/11/2006 10:24

No cos that is it she will just turn up on her own!
If i say i am returning her at x o clock i will find a house in darkness i just know it.
Then what do i do.

Could you ask one of the other parents if they could take her with them if you have to go out? Presumably some of them know each other and are friends. If you explained the situation to one of the other mums maybe they could help out.

What happened in the end?
