How much to express/ feed?

I posted this in infant feeding but it's a bit quiet and got no response - any thoughts to help?

I've just expressed for the first time and got about 4oz/100ml. I can't work out how much my nearly 4 week old will take per feed though - having a google I've read anything from 1oz- 5oz!

Will she feed until full as with breast or can they over feed with breast milk from bottle?

Does anyone have any advice?

The advice I was given was about 1oz/hour. Look up paced bottle feeding which may help. Good luck! My DD refused her first bottle at that age and never took one but I think that's fairly unusual!

I didn't express at that age but I thought you were supposed to feed on demand ie as often as they want including with expressed milk. I might be wrong though. Have you asked the midwife or health visitor?

Wow 4oz is a great amount (well compared to me) I store mine in 2oz pouches and my ds would easily drink 2oz at 4 weeks he is now 9 weeks and eats like a horse Grin

My ds is 4 weeks and drank 2 4oz bottles back to back yesterday. He is a very hungry boy though!

Mine usually had about 100ml a feed - I kept it in small pouches as pp said and offered them 1 at a time so I didn't ever have to chuck a huge unwanted feed away. If the whole feed is guzzled straight down - try some more but if its slower towards the end, probably about the right amount. Don't think they can over feed so long as you take their cures and stop feeding once they have finished.
