I've got 3 kids (dd 5, ds1 2.1 & ds2 12 weeks) and i really dont think i bath them enough! The two older ones fight like cat and dog in the bath and then have a hissy fit about getting hair washed etc! I probably only bath the older ones twice or three times a week? am i a bad mother? How often do you all do the bath thing?

and babies no 2 and 3 were shockingly underwashed till they could sit up and get in w their brother/s - so imspeaking as a lazy slattern type, myself.

DelGirl · 21/11/2006 20:52

2 to 3 times a week. More often if she has pasted her hair with her dinner [grin} I used to bath her every night when she was a tiny baby but her skin got very dry so I cut down. Most nights though in the summer as she is a hot head!

every night when DH is here to help, every other if hes working late, possibly every third if my back is bad

jabberwocky · 21/11/2006 20:52

Well, I put ds in the bath every night to spash around and to have a regular routine. But, since his skin does dry out easily I am careful not to have the water too warm and mainly do a quick face and hands wash only a lot of nights. Too much sudsing up and he starts to get a rash, even though we use a sensitive skin body wash.

ellanatal · 21/11/2006 20:53

nappies galore - i can imagine i might bath them more when the baby is bigger and can get in the bath with ds1 - think dd would be quite hapy to go in on her own! but until then they will remian underwashed! but no-one outside mn will ever know¬

Ds (2.10) gets a bath most nights. But he loves it, and I use the time to sort washing, fold clothes, give the bathroom a quick clean or just sit on my a*se and chat to him. It's part of his bedtime routine. We probably miss it once a week because we're out late or I simply can't be bothered (oh, and despite fairly successful potty training, he'll still often has damp trousers at some point in the day, so it's good to have a proper wash....)

pipo · 21/11/2006 20:54

When DS was under 6 mnths and not moving independently I bathed him maybe twice a week ( in the morning). Now that he is more active, more sweaty and more absolutely filthy he is bathed at least once a day if not twice. I like to bath him myself in the morning when I seem to have more time. And DH usually baths him at night (I cant be bothered by then).

TheHighwayCod · 21/11/2006 20:54

youll find as htey get older oyu do em less

schneebly · 21/11/2006 20:55

once or twice per week here!

helsy · 21/11/2006 20:55

I like slattern, it gives a picture of a woman who wanders round in a housecoat with rollers in at midday smoking a fag, with last night's lippy still on. And doesn't bath the children that often, clearly. Too busy getting her lipstick smudged .

ilovecaboose · 21/11/2006 20:56

well its getting to that time of year again. Time to drag the bath out the shed.

Depends how dirty he gets. At least once a year...

...week I mean week honest!

autumnlover · 21/11/2006 20:56

4.5 yrs and 16 mths children - have bath every night. very intregal part of their night time routine. find that helps when we're away as well. they know that bed & sleep follows bath.

do hate it though as they get quite hyper in the bath....

TheHighwayCod · 21/11/2006 20:57

BettySpaghetti · 21/11/2006 20:57

5 times a week - one of the non-bath nights is DDs swimming lesson night so she showers at the pool and the other non-bath night is either Fri or Sat when we can't be ar$ed and want a night off

ellanatal · 21/11/2006 20:57

if i didnt have to do the school run - a slattern i would be ( can i replace the fag with a nice white wine??)!!!

2 or 3 times a week. I used to bath DS1 every night but he had dry skin and Dr told me not to bath im so often. Now there are 3 of the little darlings its harder work so 3 times a week is the most they get bathed

MandyBOO · 21/11/2006 21:00

i have dd (4) and ds (6 months) and they having their bath together. Tbh i only bath them 2 or 3 times a week (usually just twice) - its not part of their routine, they dont get that grubby and its better for their skin not to be bathed every evening. One of my friends baths her kids every evening without fail - if they go out for the evening they have a bath before they go out ffs!!! Madness!

helsy · 21/11/2006 21:00

Yes, white wine is fine - or one of those candy sticks that you're not allowed to call sweet cigarettes any more. Not quite as decadent as wine, though. I'd go for red as it stains your teeth.

WideWebWitch · 21/11/2006 21:02

dd (3) every night but only because she likes it
ds (9) when I can be arsed to nag him or when he smells

So I think you're fine with once or twice a week. They dno't smell much at that age ime.

ellanatal · 21/11/2006 21:02

Mandyboo - she's most definitely not a slattern! the complete opposite i feel! and a bit obsessive!

Every night and a hairwash twice a week. They love the bath and are usually flithy from playing football in the playground

Chandra · 21/11/2006 21:05

I do it the day before Christmas.

Just kidding, everyday unless we both are knackered.
