Nappy Rash in breastfed 8 week old - something im eating???

My dd is 8 weeks old and she has recently gotten bad nappy rash. Mostly on the bum cheeks - pinky skin with some patches that are more red and look a little sore. I always change her immediately when she poos and frequently there after. She is given 'airime' without a nappy in the day as well. I remember from the first time around that orange juice is a no no when breastfeeding as i was drinking it lots and it gave my ds bad nappy rash. Is there anything else that I may be eating that can cause Nappy Rash??? I have drapoline which is usually pretty quick acting but not working yet. any suggestions???

Could be thrush ? Might be worth going to dr in case you ened a prescribed cream

forgot to mention i use disposables at the moment and clean her with cotton wool pads. After having her on the change mat for airtime she weed twice and pood once. now the pink skin has gone further down her legs rather than just bum

she could just have sensitive skin. ds had a pink bum most of the time, whatever nappy he wore (but especially in disposables as it happens). does she seem to be bothered by it?

shes been quite grumpy today - usually she doesnt cry but dont know whether its nappy rash bothering her or not. i was reading other threads and they mention teething. from birth you could see the teeth in her gums, with little white bits showing above. hv said babies can be born with teeth but shes never seen it so could not tell me if it was her teeth coming through that we could see.

Re: the teeth showing. I've seen this in a few babies - apparently the teeth rise and fall a few times before finally poking through. I think it's called rumbling. Or grumbling?

Have you thought of trying a cloth nappy? Maybe she's sensitive to disposables?

oh yes, could be teething. it's usually the bottom teeth that come through first, and you can generally feel them before you can see them, but you could be right. does she have rosy cheeks and is she chewing her hands more than usual?

hayles78 · 21/11/2006 17:46

she doesnt have rosy cheeks but is 'blowing bubbles' a lot in the last week - dribbling frothy dribble and sucks her hands a lot. its been a while since i tried to have a good look at her 'teeth' but you can definately see them in gums ( the gums are a much lighter whiter yellow colour where the two bottom teeth are and a light grey pinky white colour on the tops.

i will have to have a good look at them
