First Birthday Party

Having a small party at the weekend for DS's 1st birthday - was hoping for some ideas on goody bags, snacks/treats etc... So far I have one birthday banner and a list of ingredients for simple things like chocolate crispies, mini pizza, fairy/butteryfly cakes - any other suggestions pls?

Most of the kids are actually age range 3-6 with a handful of babies aging between 7mth - 18mth.
Any useful websites or shops for the decorations etc..?

Thanks in advance.

The staples on top of what you have are (IMO): ham/philadelphia/cheese sandwiches (crusts cut off ... it's a party!), carrot and cucumber sticks, mini sausages (you can get nice ones), grapes.

As for decorations ... if budget runs to it, then they love being sent home with a helium balloon. I don't think you need to go overboard ... they don't tend to notice it really (DD will be 4 in Dec ... she went to her friend's party on Sunday which was at home with no decorations and they all had an amazing time).

Shops like Sainsbury's also have a good selection or look in yellow pages for your nearest party shop.

Asda have got zillions of stuff for decorations - banners, balloons, pinata, plates etc - all really cheap. We got a "pin thr trunk on the elephant" game for the older ones to play for about £1.
MIL did buffet for us - put on big pans of curry & hot pot for the adults, finger sandwiches etc for the younger ones

Thanks - had totally forgotten sandwiches!! I love the minus crust party type - yum!

Hi Iklboo and thanks, another good idea re: adults, maybe a pot of something with some rice on pater plates for them would also be a good idea. Your LO must have turned 1 recently - hope all is well with you both x
