this must have been asked before, but has standing too close to the tv been proven to be bad for children's health?

If you read the book "Set Free Childhood" it describes how anyone being in the vicinity of a cathode ray tube can be adversely affected by it. (one of the reasons you should switch the set off not just use standby. Proximity makes it worse, yes.

i read that the only damage it will do i eye strain, just the same as us on a pc all day.

Have been arguing with DH over this and found this so in terms of vision it's not a problem. F&Z may be right though in terms of electro-magnetic waves or whatever.
Some friends of mine had 2 mobiles damaged beyond repair by baby drool, so that's inadvisable from that point of view as well as the jury still being out on EM.
