This is poo in the pants not in the potty brigade?

I am so in. I'm sick to death of cleaning pooey pants...

Flossam · 19/11/2006 17:59

Cod - how old should DS be. Our HV reckons not till 2.5. Any thoughts?

Jimjams2 · 19/11/2006 18:03

I'll give it a go with ds3, although if he's not remotely interested I'll stop. OK he's just taken off his own pooey nappy (having done one about 2 seconds ago) so I'll give it a go.

He'll be 2 in January. If he is toilet trained before he's 2, I will send you a big box of chocs

I'll be lurking, hoping for tips.

I've been waiting for this. DS is 3 in Feb, not very chatty and always says no when asks if he wants the potty. He is being a bit of a terror when we change his nappy now. Don't know if he is ready of not. Would we qualify for this bootcamp or not. Plus we will be in and out of home this week as he has pre-school and other thinsg - sorry if I am a problem camper!

Naughtynoonoo · 19/11/2006 18:11

Opps when I say not very chatty, his speech is very slow, so it won't be a case of him saying he wants to wee / pooh. I really want him out of nappies - not just making excuses - the quicker the better imho.

i WILL (oops) talk to dh about it tonight as I don't do very well at holding my nerve solo. ds is at nursery tomorrow and Tuesday, but we could do two clear days at home Wed and Thur and Fri is OK as well. In fact we have other kids coming here to play Fri which might be a spur.

Jimjams2 · 19/11/2006 20:49

naughtynoonoo- I made the mistake of waiting foor ds1 to start being able to talk before potty training, then when he got to 4 and still wasn't talking I thought i ought to get on with it . He's 7 now, still can't talk but been dry since 1 and a half (although he'll wet his bed on purpose grrr). His lack of speech wasn't actually a problem at all in the end.

Position we're in is that technically we started "training" ds2 in half term. He's got the point with wees, but (unless he's supposed to be going to bed and is delaying) he doesn't initiate going to the toilet himself so I have to remember the last time he went and make sure I take him in time. About every 1.5 hours seems to be the magic number at the moment, unless he's had squash (at toddler group or nursery) in which case I have to take him every hour.

Some days are fine, no accidents, other days I'm continually changing him and washing clothes. I know he can do it because it's extremely rare he has an accident at nursery and that's 3 hours long.

We haven't had a single poo on the potty or the toilet. All in pants or night-time nappy. I've got to the stage now where I really want to tell him he can choose to do it in his nappy or the toilet as long as he doesn't do it in his pants - not sure if that will help or hinder though! This part is the bit that is really getting me down to be honest.

On the other hand, he's doing better in one respect than his brother at a similar age - he'll use a real toilet when we're out. With ds1 I was dragging a potty around with me for months. Makes life so much easier not having to.

So anyway, I think my real big goal is to get him to not poo in his pants. I can cope with the having to time to get to the loo for a while. It's dealing with poo encrusted pants my patience is wearing thin with...

Had a 'nappy free' session before bath time, lots of sitting on the potty while doing stories/jigsaws (but no wees or poos despite promises of rewards beyond his wildest dreams) then tears and very very upset at suggestion of putting pants on. ds likes taking them in and out of the drawer but WILL NOT wear them

Wll try the same tomorrow (another nursery day, hence evening session).

catew · 20/11/2006 22:24

today is the first day of potty training my DS 2.5 and bless him he did so well until 10 mins before bed i sadi about 1 minute before do you need a wee wee and the answer came back no mummy then bam wee and poo in the pants and he was quite happy to sit there in it! ahh this is going to be soo hard

Lio · 21/11/2006 21:38
