Anyone studying with ICS, or has done in the past?

Well I did something crazy on thursday and as I did so poo at school thought I will get my five gcses through ICS. So I went ahead and booked 5 courses which has cost me over a grand.

I really wanted to know what their support system is like? Also how do I book my exams??

Hi, I did one GCSE with them last year. I found their admin system great and online facilities good (them sending out your modules, checking your payments etc giving you test results) Their material was good.

BUT my rather unknowledgeable tutor put me under alot of stress by refusing to sign a coursework form which she should have which nearly meant me having to sit the exam a year later! Luckily, I managed to sort it out myself and got the top grade. Arranging the exams is all on your own back and can be a total nightmare. The ones with lots of coursework are a pain as your tutor will have to authenticate and send multiple copies back and forth between you (rough drafts etc etc).

The cheapest exam fee is about £22 per subject, but many are up to £100 (mine was £55) The worst part is finding a centre. You need to contact AQA or whatever board and get their info on sitting as a private candidate in Dec/Jan. They have a list of colleges that they say will accept private candidates, in reality though, few do.

I had to travel some distance, and this also means arranging to have your results/certs by post. You may be lucky and find somewhere local though.

Overall they were OK but the tutor was ill informed. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow am worried now about the tutor situation. I am sorry you had such a bad time with yours, it's shocking as we are paying so much money to them we should surely get the best.
