Best way to clean leather shoes of a child who's had an accident on them?

Not been on here for ages, but need a quick fix! My little girl is doing great with going to the loo, but has had an accident stood up and wet her shoes. Anyone have any ideas of the best way to clean without ruining them?

Just sponge gently?

Soldiers use to pee on their boots to soften the leather so perhaps she needed to make them more comfy???
