Does anyone leave a bottle/beaker with their DC overnight??

It's so ridiculously hot that I'm considering leaving DS's beaker in his cot (full of water) in case he wakes up hot and thirsty.

Are we allowed to do this though? Is it safe?

I did when dd was little, just water in an anyway up cup.

Passmethecrisps · 30/06/2015 19:18

At 2.5 yo my dd has a spill free cup every night. It doesn't mean she actually uses it without my help mind you.

purplemurple1 · 30/06/2015 19:26

Yes I done this from when he was about one yr old in a sippy cup.

Writerwannabe83 · 30/06/2015 19:46

Brilliant - he's 15 months. I just wasn't sure if there were any safety issues regarding leaving them to drink whilst lying on their back unsupervised etc

Well, I wouldn't because be coughs and splutters if he drinks lying down. And the mattress would get soaked.

NickyEds · 30/06/2015 19:51

Your "are we allowed to do this?" just made me giggle. I just imagined the police coming round to have a word with you about a rogue cup!
Yes you're allowed. We've been leaving a no spill cup in with ds since he had a cough. If I wake up in the night I have a drink.

MinesAPintOfTea · 30/06/2015 19:54

I didn't until DS was about 2.5

If he woke up, I'd go to him and provide a drunk if necessary, usually water after night weaning.

ToddleWaddle · 30/06/2015 19:58

Both of mine had from about 1yr. Non spill cups. No problems with.

Kraggle · 30/06/2015 20:00

Yep dd (2.3) has had a bottle with a straw for months now. Only problem we've had is sometimes she leaves it upside down and she has a bit of a wet mattress in the morning!

Whatabout · 30/06/2015 20:03

My son has had one from about 1, no problems.
