Advice on split classes

Can anyone offer some advice on split year and split teachers and I say teachers?..
My son is going into a split class, 19 year one?s and 10 year two?s. Of the 10 year two?s there is only 2 boys and 8 girls.
Along with this, he will be having a full time teacher until November, then this will split into two part time teachers and in May there will another change, where one part time teacher will leave another will take their place.
I can?t see how this is going to benefit my son at all. Is there anything I can do?
I?m worried about the social aspect, him being one of two boys, I?m worried about the aspect of monitoring with so many different teachers involved and I concerned all of this will affect his progress.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated

My DCs have been in split classes for several years now and it is generally very beneficial. I can't say it has caused any issues at all except for DD who is a mixed Y5/6 class and as a very bright and mature 11yo, finds some of the antics of the 9 yos a bit .
Part time teachers haven't been an issue either - they usually seem to work well together.
However, the school puts a lot of effort into balancing the ability and social dynamic of each class - so your DS's class does sound a bit lopsided.

I have spoken to my son's teacher today, however she doesn't seem to grasp my concerns. I agree the split class could be good for him but to split it with only two boys and to add three teachers into the mix, i can only see disadvantages.

Do you know if there Is there anything I can do to improve this situation or am I stuck with it?

Is there a parallel class with a similar mix. if not, There is absolutely nothing you can do.
if there is, you could perhaps go in and put over your argument as to why your child should move classes. That said, with the kerfuffle with the teaches, the school obviously think that your child will cope well with all the change.
I know at my school we don't swap children on request of the parents- otherwise every parent would be in.
in regards to the three teachers- where abouts are you? In certain areas of the country there is a severe teacher shortage. this situation is not ideal, and I'm sure it was the last choice for the school but it may be their only choice.
they won't have made this decision by choice- or taken it lightly.
job shares can work very well and often play to each teachers strengths. I would wait and see how it goes- your child may like it

Practically speaking the split classes make little difference.

The kids socialise as a class, so he'll make friends in both year groups.

As long as the work is properly differentiated he'll be fine. Teachers are supposed to differentiate the work so many ways these days that a split class won't matter really. Everyone is supposed to be working at their own level anyway.

Give it until Christmas, I don't this you'll think it's still a problem.

Tbh a split class isn't really a biggie as sometimes the children are more on the same level than a non split class so it can help rather than hinder.
With regards to the teachers, I think as long as there is good communication and hand over, it should be fine.
I'm four days a week and I went on maternity leave at Christmas so handed over to another teacher for my four days and had the other day covered by the same person. Essentially they've had three teachers this year but we've all worked hard to try and keep consistency for the kids.

Is there any other way this could have been done with regards to only two boys in the class? Seems a bit odd to have been done on purpose.

There is a parallel class, single year group and one teacher which also has 10 boys of the same age. This is why I am struggling with the arrangements in my sons class.
I'm being told the split has been done by age however, children younger have gone into the straight year, so therefore that's clearly not the case. In the same meeting I've been told a lot of thought has gone into the split with regards to the social dynamics however the only other boy staying in the glass isn't even a close friend.
Ideally I would of liked him to have a few more of his friends with him, perhaps split the boys 4/8 not 2/10.
I do feel bitterly let down by the school in the fact they can't give me a straight answer as to why they have made these descions, however three teachers, split class and no social pairing will be good for my son?

The ones for the mixed class might be the less able ones. There will be perks
