Naps and days out

I feel a bit silly asking this, but how do people manage full days out with a toddler? DS 14 months has a 2 hour plus nap in the middle of the day. We tend to go out for short excursions both morning and afternoon, but he always naps at home in his cot. What do you all do on a day trip? Will I just hope he has a long sleep in his pram at some point?

Absolutely. We were the same and would often have 2 trips out a day - it was just that we were usually at home between about 12 and 2. Wasn't a big hardship - people got to know that was how we worked and sometimes when people were out for the full day, we would just join them for the afternoon or morning part.

If I'm out for full day my 15 month old just naps in his pushchair. Sometimes it's 30-40 minutes being pushed to wherever we are headed and 30-40 minutes on the way home.

At home he always goes in the cot for 2 hours but out and about its free form.

Naps have always been sacrosanct here and in the cot but now he's older I'm far more chilled!

I use a sling for my 7.5mo as he doesn't nap anywhere else - still waiting for him to 'eventually' nap in the buggy or car. I suspect I shall still be lugging him around at 14mo Blush
But at least it means we're often out for long days out and about.....
