Sometimes kids just throw up... right?

Our 10mo has just had his first major vomiting episode since having moved onto solid food. Had been asleep for 30 mins when he woke crying and did a proper adult looking sick containing all the food he's been eating today. Then a bit more came up 20 mins later.

No temperature, but screaming. If I had to guess I'd say something has disagreed with him.

Sometimes babies and toddlers just throw up right? And they're not necessarily ill in any other way?

He's gone to sleep now, so just wanting some reassurance really!

Yes sometimes. I might be tempted to note down what he'd eaten, so that if it happens again you can see if there's a pattern.

My baby certainly did once at a similar age....he'd been fine all day at my parents, eaten well but then when I went to get him out his car seat he threw up all over me. He wasn't ill though, however I was cautious and just offered water overnight and plain food the next day.

And obviously see how he is when he wakes and make sure he's well hydrated. Babies can become dehydrated very quickly!

Yes, and some adults still do it! My friend's little boy throws up whenever he gets excited or upset and he is 7. He has been doing it as long as we can remember.

He may have a mild tummy bug. My dd2 rarely seems to get a noticeable fever when she's ill so we often get no warnings about a tummy bug until she projectile vomits all over us. Which is fun.
I wouldn't worry too much though, just check before you go to bed that he hasn't got a raging temperature and be on standby with a mop and bucket at breakfast time .

My son used to do this. He would throw up but be absolutely fine afterwards. At one stage he could puke on demand. We took him to a paediatrician when he was 3, who said that some children are just pukier than others and he'd grow out of it. He was right.

Apparently so, some people are just sicky.
Dd is 13 and I can count on two hands the number of of times in her life she's been sick, I'm the same, we have stomachs of steel

Well yes, DS isn't particularly sicky either, which is why this is a bit of a shock!

I think we're worrying because last time he was sick like this was about 6 months ago when we all caught norovirus!

Fingers crossed and mop and bucket on standby. He's asleep on two towels, so a belt and braces approach!

Was he screaming in between the two sicknesses?

When my kids are sick, without being ill, it tends to be because they get too hot (but not in having a temperature way iyswim) or had a bit of gas which brings up everything else

My DD did something similar around this age! Was sitting playing happily and suddenly puked everywhere - lots of it. Seemed fine afterwards, if a little startled. It was just before dinner, so I tried her on a little toast, which she puked straight up. So, I just put her to bed later after her usual breastfeed and she was subsequently fine. No temperature or any other symptoms. Whole thing was a bit weird!

Yes, of course. I used to be sick all the time as a kid and it only stopped as an adult. For me the triggers were rich food, especially fatty food. But once a small bag of jelly bellys set me off! I would keep an eye on food because that may be what is triggering it.
