Poorly DS, am I being a neurotic mother?

DS is 10 months old, the past week he's not been himself, virtually no food and little fluid. He's taking some milk and I've been giving him weak squash as he wouldn't take water.
Has slept A LOT, he's been sick a couple of times and is generally not a happy baby.

Took him to the GP on Friday, she had a look and said he had a throat infection but it wasn't pussey and prescribed ibroprufen.
He's still no better and this morning his little voice sounds sore and horse iyswim.

Toying with the emergency doctors but worried I'm going to look like one of 'those hypercondriac mums' He has literally no appetite, I think maybe he does need antibiotics because ibroprufen clearly isn't cutting it. Something just isn't right.

Shall I go?

but don't forget a lot of throat infections are viral in which case it is just a frustrating case of treating the symptoms and waiting for the body to fight the infection itself.

Hope he is better soon.

I did wonder about the viral thing but I just don't know.
It wasn't our usual GP, and it felt like we had inconvenienced her by daring to book an appt, I wasn't a fan of hers. I think im going to go, just to be on the safe side.

Take him to the out of hours doctor, even if they say nothing else to do you can be reassured. They'll check his dehydration signs if he's not eating or drinking much. Might be an idea to get some full sugar ribena in to try and keep his sugar levels up.

Go to emergency docs. I was in same position when ds was just a little older. I apologised for being 'that kind of mother' but they said not to be silly and when they are so young, the mother's instinct is important. It's probably just a nasty virus but you need reassurance. They may give you a prescription for antibiotics to use if he's not perking up in a day or two. I always found the emergency doctor to be a lot more approachable and much more keen to 'do' something!

He went to bed at 5.30 last night as he was just SO TIRED, and slept til 7.30. He's now asleep again in bed with his daddy.

I'll have to wake them up to go to a Father's Day breakfast that's been arranged. I'll take him to the doctors after.

Kept him off nursery last week but I really need him to go tomorrow but I just know if he's still like this I won't be able to, I couldn't do it, it's not fair on him

I'd deffiently take him, they really don't mind when it's a baby! And if they do need to give him some antibiotics then it's potentially one day less that your little one will feel ill which is more that worth it Imo

Still a virus, no antibiotics. But he seems to have his appetite back so hopefully he's on the mend now.

He stuffed down a loads of chips he swiped off my plate at lunch, tbh I don't really care what he eats so long as he eats something!
