Have a nearly 3 yr old. Sometimes naps. Last night she stayed up till 11 pm, woke at 3 am, finally dropped off at 5 am, in bed till 10 am. No nap today and STILL awake. What is that about. I'm knackered- any suggestions on getting her to sleep?

Hmm. Sounds quite similar to my 3 year old. Up till 11 also last night and woke me up at 6am this morning. He doesn't nap during the day. The mistake I made yesterday was letting him nap, but I wanted a rest, ha.
But generally no naps then see if DC will drop off at bedtime.

I bought dark blinds from ikea. They work pretty well. It isn't light at 3am though so do you have a different issue maybe? Hungry? Porridge last thing can help them go through.

Easy, cheap, instant blackout trick is a damp sponge on window and then lengths of kitchen foil will stick to it and form a complete blackout.

Then regardless of what it's like outside, 8pm (or whenever) is bedtime full stop. She should also nap better if it's dark and the foil also blocks heat so keeps the room cooler.

Might take a while of regular bedtime routine to reset her sleep clock as she'll probably suffer from lack of sleep for a few days after such an unsettled night so just stick with it and encourage daytime sleep however you can - does she drop off in the car?? I would be planning some long trips about 2ish!
