Toddler constantly pinching me!

DS is nearly 16 months and for the last month or so seems to be on a mission to pinch me, and it bloody hurts! I keep saying no in a firm voice and try to distract him but he thinks it's a big joke and tries to pinch me again or bite me. It's worse now that it's warmer as I have more skin exposed. I have scratches and bruises on my arms and legs as he's got vicious little finger!! Any idea how I can get him to stop? Or is this a stage they all go through?

If DS bites, hits or pinches me I pop him straight on the floor and say no biting etc. I stay with him but ignore with no eye contact for about 10 seconds then pick him up and kiss him and say mummy loves him but we don't bite we do gentle and kind. The idea is to not to give him attention for the bad stuff. No idea if this is the right approach but seemed to stop the biting (other than when really tired)

I do do that too but it is yet to have an effect!
