Cleaning kitchen bathroom...

... With a baby who can escape a bouncy chair, touch and lick everything and tends to be mobile enough to fall and bonk her head! If I used a sling her hands would be all over the cif sponge in a shot.
Both rooms too small for a travel cot or play pen.

Suggestions or tips?!?

DH and I already use the whole weekend for various house and garden stuff.
I feel right up against the wall. Bit of a domestic failure.
Too much stank, too little time. Sad

Play pen in a different room.

I have a little chair that attaches to our chairs in the kitchen. I normally put my 1 year old in there with some toys on her tray, high chair if you have one? Normally the music channel on so she's happy jigging away.
She has a seat that sucks to the bath so I put her in there with her big brother in the evening and clean the bathroom then :)

So if you are talking about the daily quick cleaning that has to be done, cot or playpen in a different room and a quick clean rather than a deep clean! If your DC is in one of these with toys she's safe and occupied. I don't have a playpen but if I get one it will be entirely to keep him safe in a room I have to leave! He sits in the highchair when I cook and clean in the kitchen (wipe worktops and dishes) so that is quick while they eat in the high chair, stick toys on the highchair if not eating. I tidy up the main house untidiness shitloads of toys quickly after DS is in bed, and spray and wipe down the bath when I let it out after he's gone to sleep (there's no point being totally silent upstairs when he's in bed or we'd never wash or wee all night!) normal cleaning products aren't harmful used in the same room as them either, I just spray onto a cloth rather than all over the worktop etc. I have a steam mop for floors and this can be used a couple of times a week again when he's just done eating and before I get him out the highchair. It's not a deep clean everyday by any means, just enough to not be disgusting! Tbh though I've found if I want the house really clean I just have to do it when he's in bed for an hour before I sit down. So there are nights I want to and nights I can't be arsed.

YY to playpen in a different room.

I also used to do a lot of the bathroom cleaning once the baby was able to sit in this sort of bath seat, just wiping around while she was safe (but obviously you're still right next to them)

The door bouncer was also a godsend.

squizita · 31/05/2015 18:46

Thurlow I have a bath seat somewhere! One of those never used hand me downs ... genius! Grin

The reason I can't do other room for long is she's mid separation anxiety. I'd give 2 min before "MUMUMUMUM WAAA!!" Confused

Depending on age as well, Jumperoo was a godsend for a few months. These shiney flashy things really do hold the attention. But if you are against that sort of thing this is more simple and can just stick it in whatever room you are in.

Tough! I'd put tv on and go back every five minutes.

Thurlow · 31/05/2015 18:47

You can do an amazing amount of cleaning with a wet wipe while they're in the bath themselves Grin

missnevermind · 31/05/2015 18:52

I used to put the child in the empty bath with a few toys and clean the rest of the room.

Buglife · 31/05/2015 18:53

I actually cleaned my whole living room floor with a handful of wet wipes while DS rolled around me.

missnevermind · 31/05/2015 18:54

Also used to drop them in there if they woke before me. So I could have a wee without them sitting on my lap and a proper wash makeup etc.

squizita · 31/05/2015 19:00

Goes to sucker seat to bath ready for morning ... Grin

I clean the bathroom while my 2 are in the bath or during naps/evening.

Littlef00t · 31/05/2015 21:14

I do it in the evening.
