Child Benefit application

I received a letter from HMRC saying that my child will get the benefit now, however, they didn't return my original documents. Is it normal? They didn't mentioned anywhere that I had to include extra envelope with the application form.

What did you send?

dementedpixie · 27/05/2015 22:03

I would imagine they would send anything back separately

Birth certificates

I also thought so, but haven't received anything after apart from that letter.

I received mine in a separate envelope a few days later. Did you have to fill in a little form with just your address on, and send it with your proper forms?
The document came back in an envelope with a window and they'd used that piece of paper if that makes sense?

I received my child's birth certificate back separately and it was several weeks later

I got the certificate back first, weeks before the letter so I wasn't even sure if everything was ok document wise. I'm guessing different sections have different timescales
