2 yr old spitting out medicine for TB

Hi, my son has just turned 2 (and we have a newborn) and there's been a case of TB at his nursery.
He's had blood test skin test and lung scan and all come back negative but we've been advised to put him on tb medicine and antibiotics for 6 weeks as a precaution.
He hates the medicine (any medicine) so much we pretty much have to pin him down to get him to take it and then he spits it all out back at us.
If anyone has any tips on how to get the medicine in and get him to swallow it that's be great.

Can you mix it with something? We've used Apple sauce, chocolate syrup and yogurt over the years to disguise the taste of various medicines. Does bribery work? 3yo DD will take anything if she has a jelly in her hand that she can shove into her mouth after, DD1's preference is chocolate.

Are you using a spoon or a medicine syringe - I find the syringe easier as it seems to bypass some of the taste buds.

In dire circumstances we have one person hold, other person put syringe in mouth and tilt head back a bit while blowing on her face (apparently encourages them to swallow). It's horrible and upsetting, but if nothing else works sometimes you just have to do it that way.

How much do you have to give? If it's only a few mls, I'd squirt it in, blow on his face (this will trigger his swallow reflex) and then give him something tasty to take his mind off it.

I second the syringe. When DS is on antibiotics he doesn't like, the only option is to pretty
Much pin him down, squirt it in bit my bit and blow in his face.

Syringe into the side back of his mouth so he has no choice but to swallow straight away. Hold his arms down while you're doing it.

Sounds terrible but is how I do, it's a means to an end...

Thanks everyone. We currently hold his arms and squirt it in with a syringe and he just screams and gargles it then spits it back out at us. I haven't heard of blowing though, I'll definitely try that.
I'm tempted to hide it in a treat but it's every morning for 6 weeks so dont want to give him anything too unhealthy... But that would be preferable to TB!!!

Day 2. Tried same method but blowing in his face to make him swallow and bribing him with a chocolate coin. He still spat the whole lot out :-(
Going to the pharmacist today to see if we can mix it with food.

You have my sympathy. My three year old won't take any medicine, even calpol. I really think he has a phobia about it. I've tried bribery, it didn't work for me but it's my only suggestion!
