Double pram?

I have a 6 month old and we're thinking about future plans. If I had a 24 month age gap, would I need a double buggy? We are also considering a 3 year gap and assume a single pram would be fine then as DD could walk perfectly well at 3 (I hope). Obviously we may not be able to plan our gap but just considering options. Thanks

I found a double buggy useful but I only had a 17 month age gap between mine.
I found that I could keep ds trapped, with a snack and drink, whilst feeding dd. It also meant I could change one without having to worry about where the other one was.
I only had it for around a year at the most, ds stopped needing a buggy altogether by around 2.6 and by that point dd had been weaned and we could all eat together whilst in town.

They don't have to be expensive - mine was about £120 from Asda living and there are loads of 2nd hand ones on eBay and the like.
They are heavy though - mine had ds sitting at the front and dd in the back, meaning all the weight was at the front and getting up steps and over kerbs was difficult. The side-by-side ones are very wide and all the weight is at one side so can be difficult to steer.

Thank you. I had been wondering if one of those buggy boards would be enough but I think not if it was only a 2 year gap then

I would say it totally depends on your lifestyle. Do you have a car? Do you walk loads? Do you often take the bus?

If you walk a lot then I would say a double is a good idea. If you mostly drive then a single with a buggy board is fine. Doubles can make you rather unpopular in public transport!

I don't drive and have 23 month gap between my children. For the first 5 months we lived in London so I managed with a single and sling, because we lived in an upstairs flat with no lift and I often took the bus and tube. When we left London I bought a double which has been brilliant. We now live in a big sprawling city with crap public transport and walk miles, so my oldest could hitch a ride when his legs got tired well past the age of 3 (don't tell the MN buggy tutters).

We'll have a 22 month gap and I don't intend to get a double buggy. I hate getting extra stuff I won't use for long. We'll sling it for a few months and make do.

We'll have a 20 month age gap and have just ordered a double. Deliberated over it for ages but eventually my reasons were:
If we go out for day trips DD may still want to nap
I can't use a sling due to back issues
Where we live is really hilly and I think DD would struggle to walk the mile and a half to baby groups and back I wouldn't have the patience for it to take an hour
I am envisaging life being difficult enough with 2 under 2 and will throw money at the problem to make life easier!

There are plenty of inline doubles where the second seat can be removed too, so even if you don't use it for both children for long you can still get your money's worth using it as single. We have a Phil & Ted's Navigator which has been great.

Thanks everyone. I drive and don't walk loads but do like to go for a walk each day currently. I guess I'll see what age gap we end up with and what DD is like at the time before I decide
