Stop at 2, or go for 3??

I've 2 lovely children, one of each. They are 3 and 6 months old.

With both I had very difficult pregnancies (hyperemesis 'till 22 weeks which I was hospitalised with, polyhydramious and threatened miscarriage = not much fun), but despite all of this, I just can't quite convince myself that it all ends here. When do you say you're done with having more kids?

Like you i have 2 lo (ds5 and dd3) and alwys said i would have 3 children. THought long and hard about it and have decided to stop at 2.Even number just now another would change everything. Got a friend who has 3 and said that the jump between 2 then 3 children is really,really hard.

i have two..one of each...and feel i could;t ask for more...i am incredibly lucky they are beautiful , healthy kids,,,i had one bad and one fantastic birth. and don;t want to push my luck!!

there are lots and lots more reasons too...but i know in my head , that more is not going to happen!

2 is IT for me. I found the jump from one to two HUGE. One parent for each child is about as much as I can cope with! I'm sure there will be lots of mums of 3 with positive words though

Agreed, it's not something that needs to be decided now, but reckon that if we are going to go for 3, I'd ideally start trying again in the Spring (took us 8 months both times to get pregnant).

Want to avoid a big gap. People with 3 say, it's more difficult trying to find an activity for all the family if the age gaps are too big and that Number 3, gets left behind etc. Also, feel they are more likely to be close siblings if we stick to the traditional 2 - 2.5year gap.

I suppose, I've given up a serious professional job to be a SAHM and perhaps feel that I should make it worth while and have a big family.

I wanted another one till dd2 was about 8 months

then I realised I didn't

I'd only ever really wanted two

twas just a hormonal blip I think cos she was so lovely

but it's over now and I'm very happy

I found the jump from 1 to 2 really easy = DS2 really did just "slot" in with our family - think because 2nd time round we knew that we didn't have to be tied down to the house by the baby - they're really pretty flexible and as long as your not silly about it you can continue pretty much as if you just had the one.

I'm now expecting no.3.....wanted by me (at some point in the future) but most definitely not planned. I just felt after DS2 that it was "the end" and I just knew I would like another one.

Lots of people I know (in RL) with 3 children have told me the jump from 2 to 3 is really difficult.........I'll let you know in 7 months time

Hm.....I personally found it and still find it incredible hard to have 3 rather then 2....I always feel I don't have enough quality time to give to them, and the fighting, etc..is sooo annoying....but of course, I would not wish ys away now...alhtouhg, some of it all is probably down to the 21 month agegap I had between #2 and #3 compared to the 6 1/2 year agegap between #1 and #2!

I'm go to have a rather 'equal' (and completely unplanned as DS2 was also a 'suprise') 3yrs between each of them! 3yrs 3 months between DS1 and DS2, and 3yrs 5 months between DS2 and DC3.....not sure whether that's good or bad LOL.

Well I went from2 to 3 and yes the jump was huge & well worth it! Even though dd3 was a tough pregnancy towards the end - was in hosp cos of high BP, am still wondering about a 4th!! Any-one else been mad enough?

I have three girls, ages 5.5, 2.5 and 4 months and its lovely. Children are so beautiful and such a blessing that it seemed a shame to me to stop at two.

I did find the three year age gap a lot easier than a 2 year age gap as there is more jealousy and communications are harder. I am also having more of the 'terrible twos' with my second which isn't easy with the new baby along with potty training too!

Its definately hard but not as hard as I expected. I am managing to breastfeed easily which surprised me and still spend quality time with the two oldest however its very tiring. Major bonus is that my latest is a dream baby compared to the first two so she is really easy to look after.

I think of the future too when they are grown up and how lovely it will be to have three or more children around. The early years are very hard but it doesn't last forever.

i want another but dh is unsure. there is only 14m between the ds' so think i will wait a bit. but am worried in case no.3 will be left out if the 2 i already have are very close being similar ages?

i happy with two!! i have dd who is 2 and ds 4 months and im lucky that they are pretty easy to deal with, im not going to push my luck with 3!!

i had the best pregnancies, easy going and loved every minute of it, but dont want to go through it all again!

im still 21 so might change my mind later on

I always wanted 3 and am debating some of the issues already mentioned on here, DD1 is 2.3yo, DD2 is 10 months, it's really hard going sometimes but fantastic too. DD1 was an angel baby DD2 much more high needs. If I were to have another I would want one soon as I don't want the DDs to be close then another one to feel left out.

Everything in my head says stop at 2 (money, career, rooms in house, time, SPD in pregnancy, car etc) and I have no reason other than wanting another one.
