Can someone explain chicken pox incubation periods?

I have been googling about the incubation periods, rashes, infectious period etc and I'm still none the wiser. All I need is someone to tell me if my son is at risk Grin

I visited my friend and her 14 month daughter the other week and me and DS were there for about two hours and in that time the children were holding hands, hugging, kissing etc. When I left we made plans to meet up again a week later.

However, five days after that first visit my friend text me to cancel our meet-up as her DD had come out in spots and it was confirmed chicken pox.

Is there a chance DS could catch it?

Or was the contact between our children too many days away from when the rash appeared to mean my friends DD was contagious?

Thank you Smile

No, I don't think he's a risk. They're infectious 2 days before the spots appear, so the other child wouldn't have been infectious.

They are infectious for 1-2 days before the spots appear so you should be ok. From contact there is then an incubation period of 10-21 days before spots would show on the other person.
