My dd (3 months) will not sleep in her cot during the day (she sleeps in her swing, car seats sling or on me) but goes down fine in her cot at night.

Same here she rarely goes down for a nap in her Moses basket or cot in the day and on the rare occasion she does it will be only half and hour at most. She naps well in the wrap, moving pram or moving car. But at night she almost always settles well in her crib (attached to my bed). If she absolutely won't settle (rare) we co-sleep.

I carried youngest 2 DC and had a co-sleeper crib/cot I also and a day bed thing downstairs when they were small. They both slept where ever, youngest (9 months) has started having his afternoon nap upstairs in his cot if we are home and settles on his own at night.

Same here. DD (nearly 3mo) will sleep in her bouncy chair, pram, car seat or on me during the day but will settle really well in her basket at night. I think because we have a set bedtime routine that acts as a trigger to her to tell her it's night-time.

Ours is story, playtime/tummy time, bath, massage, feed, bed. Doesn't matter what you do as long as you do the same every time Smile

No routine yet she just comes to bed when I'm tired, I think just being in our bedroom in her GroBag with the lights low must tell her it's bedtime. I plan to start a bath, story, bed routine soon.

Before I had DC1 I hated the idea of a routine. Then I had a baby that wouldn't sleep. We do a simple bedtime routine - starting at 7pm, curtains closed, playtime in bath, cuddles with Daddy, bf in bedroom then bed in Moses basket. He settles in about 20mins if left to do - without crying. Then a dream feed at 10.30. It works most nights and he sleeps until 5-6am at 12 weeks. Two very happy and rested parents. It's from the Baby Secrets book although there are others.

I don't follow a routine in the day - just too much at the moment. I don't plan on either - I'm hoping that he'll naturally gather all the little naps into one or two during the day eventually.

Good luck!
