Feeling guilty...

I'm a teacher and debating whether to throw in the towel as my first DS starts school this autumn. He's not the most straightforward- I know most aren't- but I worry more about his relationships and social stuff than I would with DD.
So, big question is: were you around when your kids started school or did you carry on with your career/work and are your kids fine and sane and happy still?!

I should mention we have a great CM whom they love but I did suggest to her I might be stopping work. Just think I might be isolated at home trying to cobble together a bit of freelance in the mornings.

Why would you give up your career as your children are starting school? ? It's usually the other way round you give up your job when they're babies then go back to work as they start school.

Go part time then you can still do some school runs/play dates.

I'd seriously think twice about giving up a job which gives you every school holiday off with your dc it's an absolute nightmare finding childcare during holidays especially the summer holidays. And also your prepared to give your career up because of a POTENTIAL problem, what if you give up and your ds is absolutely fine in school? If there is any problems you know yourself being a teacher you can't be with them during school and you'll just be sat at home worrying. I'm surprised given your job that you are so worried about this your willing to give your job up, put your teacher head on and what would you tell an anxious parent like yourself? I'm sure it wouldn't be give up your job. Have some faith in your fellow teachers. Who deals with his relationship and social stuff now when your at work?

Thank you all. You're absolutely right and I needed to see some logic. I guess teaching is also stressful right now so potentially two dresses put together = not great chemistry.
