hello, here's a very accurate review of moshi monsters my friend wrote and asked me to share.
me and my daughter helped her collect information
Moshi Monsters is a game where children can own and look after their very own monsters. It's a fun game apart from all the drama, especially on the forums. The forums are probably the worst part about the game. It's mostly 12-16yr olds giving themselves nicknames (red, dawn, autumn, etc) and if anyone else has that same nickname, the whole forums turn on them (apart from the newer players, what they call 'newbies'.). And on the writing settings, there are colours. Most of these people choose colours and then say no one else can use them. They'll start 'roleplays' where they play out (often disgusting) fantasies with other people using their 'charries' (which apparently means characters). Some of the most pathetic people on there are the ones that mock other players (including my child) for not using grammar. Recently my daughter was telling me about a girl who brings up ''feminist'' issues (even though she's clearly no feminist) and starts arguments. She'll won't use grammar all the time, but the moment my daughter doesn't use it, the people on the forums mock her mercilessly. They even have a 'rule' where the longer you've been on, the more important you are. My daughter has been playing for 2 years but they say she has just joined. 'Moshi Icons' are cute little monster faces which you click to express emotions (happy, sad, angry, worried, silly) and you can't use them because people will tell you to stop using them and start a war. All this and more. And if you need more proof that it's a horrible website, go to www.mumsnet.com/Talk/parenting/808820-Moshi-Monsters-internet-safety
Moshi Monsters is full of trolls. As long as you don't add anyone or go on the forums, then it's fun.
