Probably the nth thread on this, but how will I know when DS1 is ready for potty training?

He's 23 months, and tells me when he does a poo, and sometimes tells me when he's weed (although he has stopped telling me he's pooed recently, as he knows it means he has to stop what he's doing, the little monkey!) He can get his trousers off too (as long as they aren't too tight)

What other signs do I need to look for? I'm bloody clueless.

My DS is 32 months old and still in nappies

He's not ready for it - he wouldn't tell me if he needed to go.

DD was trained in 3 days from her 2nd birthday, but she was happy to tell me and eager to get on the loo!

I would say that considering what you have said and if in addition he could sit for a few minutes on the potty, then he is ready.

Although... the only thing that would make me wait is that at that age they can not hold for long so... you are free from nappies but then you spend all the a=outings running to find a toilet.

Thank you. I don;t think he is entirely ready, but it might be something I could consider after Christmas maybe. I'll probably end up leaving it longer though
