Potty training query...

We're on day 3. Day 1 lots of accidents in the morning then a couple of successful potty wees in the afternoon. Day 2 no accidents until 4pm when there were a few in quick succession, and a slightly traumatic trip to grandma's at lunchtime where he was dying for a wee but got stage fright and couldn't go so we had to go home Hmm he did his first poo without a nappy yesterday afternoon and nearly made the potty.
Day 3 (today) he's done one successful potty wee and has spent most of the last two hours sitting on the potty. Is this normal? Am worrying about when he goes to nursery on Tuesday, what if he gets stage fright there and holds it in all day? He was so upset yesterday, it broke my heart.

It sounds like he's doing great.

Why is he sitting on the potty at the moment? Does he need a wee/poo and can't go or he's worried about having an accident? Will he come off if you tell him to? Or is he insisting that he stay there? Is he happily sitting on the potty or upset? He's still working it out so accidents and false alarms are all normal at this point.

I wouldn't worry about nursery, they will have potty trained 100's of children so will know all the tricks to get them to go in the potty and without upset.

As with any other skill, the more they use the potty, the better they'll be at it.

If your child has a favorite doll or stuffed animal, try using it for potty demonstrations. Most children enjoy watching their favorite toy go through the motions, and may learn more this way than from you telling them what to do.

Dress your child in loose-fitting clothes that they can easily take off themselves, or buy panties a size too big.

I notice so many people mention this POTTY training video

you may just be surprised to find out potty training doesn't have to be hard or stressful.

So far so good!

it will take a while but it really does sound like he's getting there, in fact getting anything in the potty on the first day is a success.

Well day 3 yesterday and we didn't have a single accident! Yippee! However he's not keen on using his potette potty so think we'll be lugging his tesco value white one round for a while! His nighttime nappy was also dry this morning, so that's good Smile we shall see how we go today...!
