Brushing baby's teeth

DD is just getting her third and fourth teeth, after first two (four months ago) she was fine with me brushing them, last couple of months she won't let me near them, I have managed occasionally with having her upside down on my knee and brushing them when she is smiling, but she has cottoned on to this, whatever I do clamps mouth shut and shakes her head. Any tips???

My dentist said to just give them the toothbrush and let them do it as their gums are sore a lot of the time you don't want them to associate you brushing their teeth with pain. It allows them to be in control. So I sit with my dd and we brush our teeth together. Yes it's not perfect but bless her she really tries to copy me. She's 9mo.

DS - 18 months- after initially not - now lets me have a quick brush upper and lower as he knows I'll then hand toothbrush to him and he happily sucks/brushes/pokes around with it for up to half an hour so think that must be ok?!

my DD has always loved to do her own. she is now 15 months and hands me the toothbrush to do for her then takes it back and we take turns all Day morning Grin

Ds did this and sort of grew out of it and now lets us do his teeth with reasonably good grace(he's 16 months). In the meantime we let him have the toothbrush to chew (supervised) on and he seemed to prefer that to having them done by us.

Have you used the Baby Brush? You can get it from Boots? :)
