Has anyone had their 5 month baby start waking all night? I feed him and put him back in his cot then 30 mins later he cries out again and I have to feed him! He won't let me cuddle him instead...will he out grow this?!

Growth spurt combined with hungry nearly ready for solids I guess?

Oh really? Yes he's 6 months in 2 weeks! He's not eating loads during the day though..? Do they stop waking as frequently in the night after solids start?

Not a given sadly! But worth a try.

My two (now adults) went through the same except in those days we started weaning after 4 months just slowly so that by 6 months they were getting a good 3 meals ,2 snacks a day. Now it's 0- full on much more quickly & I do think they get hungry at that age with so much growth and being more active.

If still only experimenting with food try giving him a smaller feed before meals, so he is still hungry & top him up after. Often I found the milk feed was enough to satisfy them temporarily & take the edge off, but didn't last. My HV suggested the above & it helped.

Another trick is to give him a late-ish supper of a good stodgy food like porridge or weetabix with banana followed a little later by a good milk/ breast feed so he has lots of complex carbs on board to see him through a good chunk of sleep.

It's an exhausting time, but gorgeous, just when you think you have a handle on some sort of routine, the little darlings change it!!

Have you tried hungry baby formula or as pp said porridge or weetabix before bed to fill up

Not tried either yet but will as soon as I can! I'm only just about getting him to drink 3oz of breast milk out of a bottle so working my way up to formula! Thank you all for advice,it's what other people have said too about him being ready for proper food! X
