Anyone who's child has hot dinners at school, what do you give them for tea? my son is starting to get a podgy belly and I'm wondrous if he is having too much? he has cereal for breakfast and a hot dinner at school. However he still has a full cooked dinner for tea too. At school they have curries, roast dinners etc

Sometimes they'll have a full meal other times they'll just have a sandwich or cheese on toast something like that

Usually a lighter meal, more if they've been very active or didn't eat much at lunch

Is he getting enough exercise / going easy on the snacks ? I doubt he'd be getting pudgy just from two cooked meals a day

Usually a sandwich fruit & yoghurt

He's nearly 7 stone and in 10/11 clothes. I'm more worried because I know how cruel kids can be. He's tall anyone as are me and his dad but he's struggling to do the button up on his trousers now. He's on the trampoline from the time he comes home from school has 3 break times at school where he is constantly running round. I might offer him a smaller tea a few nights a week and see how I get on

Mine will sometimes have a full meal, sometimes a sandwich or similar.

I always gave them a full evening meal because they needed it.
Most children don't eat a full school meal and at least if ive fed them I know what they ate eating
I always had a school lonxh and an evening meal as a child and sometimes did as an adult as I work in early years

Could a growth spurt be coming up? Not too sure about other kids but my daughter tends to grow outwards for a bit and then slims down a bit as she grows upwards. It seems to happen in cycles with her.
