AIBU? I need people to do as I wish!

FTM 4 week old son

AIBU to wish that my family (and husband) would ask how they could help rather than offering unsolicited advice or doing the opposite of what I ask them to?

Maybe I'm being demanding but I feel sometimes I know what I or baby needs and some help would make it easier. Rather than being told to try something completely different.

And I'm starting to feel like every time someone ignores me that they are saying I'm not doing a good enough job at this mothering thing

Rant over.

Thanks for listening!

Smile and nod.

You'll be needing that a lot over the next 18 or so years. And sometimes people have good advice. Always worth listening, even if you think it's as likely as pigs flying from that particular person.

They are trying to help - good news
They're overbearing - bad news
Which camp they fall in to depends on your relationship with them, your feelings as a new parent, the relevance of their advice, the context of their advice etc. The smile and nod advice is good.

If it's anything like here, trust me you are doing it all right, they just need to flipping listen!

Congratulations too.
