Hi, need some help with what is wrong with my baby. She seemed to have trapped wind at the weekend and start of this week. The past couple of days seem to be worse with crying during and after feeding and she has been sick more often, not a lot of sick at once but just small amounts after been fed. She seems to be in pain and doesn't always feed for that long, and is getting tired from crying and not going to sleep as she is still hungry.
Sorry if I have not explained it very well, but I am tired. Does it sound like she could have reflux? I think I will go to the doctors tomorrow or ring the hv.

Forgot to say I am breastfeeding her. Also not sure if the wind is related to the crying after feeding now and been sick. She is also pooing and burping ok.

It's hard to say op but that sounds very normal to me. Babies have very incompetent gastric tracts and the first 4 months are filled with plenty of crying, puking and knees up. On both my babies there were times when I seriously wondered if my baby had reflux. It's the major downside of newborns but does just suddenly settle when they reach 5-6 months. I would get your baby checked out for your peace of mind but if GP thinks all is well, just be assured that this crying, fussing and misery does pass soon.

I had something similar when my DD was about 4 wks old, it turned out she had a bad cold! It made it difficult for her to feed as she couldn't breathe while feeding. However I did also have a symptom of green poo showing the infection in more ways than one! Get baby checked out and go from there.

Suppose it could just be normal for a little baby, reading it again it does sound like the usual. But I do feel she is quite upset at times more than she should be.
Has anyone else had a baby with reflux? What should I look out for?
I will ring the hv today as she has been good so far.

Could well be reflux. Both mine had it though they had silent reflux which is where they're not actually sick but they get "baby heartburn" which hurts and causes a lot of crying . Crying during and after feeding are classic signs as is general "unsettledness". You might find your LO wants to feed a lot but cries - this is because while they are feeding the milk going down the food pipe soothes the burning but it's the milk coming back up again that causes the burning - vicious circle! Please dont worry if it is reflux - it's v common and there are ways to treat it such as baby Gaviscon and Ranitidine. Let us know what the Dr says.

I have a 7 month old and my baby went through phases of exactly what you are describing. I think the difference between my baby and a friends baby who does have reflux - is that my baby went through 'phases' so a week of awfulness ok for a bit etc... whereas hers has been constant. Also mine did magically stop being an issue at 4-5 months and her baby (bless her) is still struggling at 7 months.

My dd was like this and she had silent reflux. She's slowly improving now at 10 weeks but it's horrible so you have my sympathies x

Keep them upright by letting them lean over your shoulder after feeding. I am sure it will pass soon.
