My 7 year old DD is doing 7 hours a week of gymnastics and for the most part really enjoys it. She always gets very stressed about the Thursday night session which involves conditioning. She is strong and does well but worries about it beforehand. My main concern is one of physiology though - is this amount of strenuous physical conditioning healthy for a very much still developing physiology of a 7 year old girl? What qualifications do or should a gymnast coach have in terms of child welfare?
