Not sure if this is the right place for this
My DS PS4 ID has been hacked & used for racial abuse We have found the identity of the person reponsible & have got them to delete & have now changed passwords etc.
DS MORTIFIED as we were away all weekend & we have returned to find this situation been happening the whole time to friends who are & families are thankfully most understanding. Apologies & explanations have been given to those affected. Any ideas on how we protect from happening again? We have kept screen shots of all comments for evidence.

Was he actually hacked? Or was he just careless with his password?

can you explain what you mean by his I'd has been hacked? do you mean someone has posted racially abusive comments using his PlayStation Network ID? or do you mean someone has physically logged onto his PlayStation and done it? there are strong security settings available on the PS4 but you have to set them.

Most "hacking" is actually a result of people being careless with passwords - either telling them to people, or leaving them as the default or as things that are easily guessed. It is highly unlikely that your PS4 was accessed remotely by someone who has actually hacked into it. Especially as you know the person who did it.

You need to have a good talk with your son about how to keep passwords safe (eg never tell them to anyone else for any reason), and then make sure the new passwords are not obvious/guessable and that they are long/complex.

I would inform the school so that they are aware if the situation. any racial abuse or allegations of racism within schools are dealt with v seriously. if it gets brought up that he has been racist then at least school will know the back story.
