Hypospadias op- any experience or advice?

Just had the letter through with an appointment for ds's (18 months) hypospadias op in a couple of weeks. The letter tells us when and where to turn up and that's about it.
Any more info/ advice about what to expect post-op and recovery would be really appreciated- we are all a bit nervous!

My ds2 had it at about a similar age. It's only a day op he should be home the same day. After care is a bit tricky though they leave a catheter in which means you have to double nappy him. 1st nappy has a hole cut out the front for the willy and catheter to come through then another nappy over the top this Is so he can poo in nappy 1 without it going onto the willy and catheter to cause infection and he will wee into nappy too. Think this was for about a week maybe 2 until you go back hospital for catheter out and stitches checked (these will be dissolvable ). Get some cheap nappies a strong pair of scissors & some plaster tape in preparation to make your nappies with a hole in. Ds was fine after it although at 5 he still sits down to wee but think this is preference rather than being unable to do it standing up.

No problem we were told this is usually genetic something to be aware of if you have future ds. My ds3 has it so I'm preparing to go through it all again next year

I second moonmoobs advice, my ds is 17 now!
Our 2nd ds didn't have it but a different father so maybe that's why?
